Stop me if you’ve heard this one before

St. John’s beat #21 Notre Dame tonight at MSG. Some unheralded dude hit a 3-pointer in the last minute for the final margin. ND missed 10 foul shots and their formerly potent offense made only 35% from the field.

If the season ended today, the only locks would be Pitt, Marquette, and Villanova, with ND likely squeezing in off the bubble. At the moment SU, GTown, and maybe WV are the only teams with even a hope of getting on the bubble – but they ain’t there now. How has it come to this? I guess that’s what happens when a conference sets the all-time single season record for players drafted into the NBA: you have a major talent and experience gap the following year.

Except the ‘Cuse has 3 seniors and a junior starting. Either they ain’t that good or something else is going on.

You’re right, Mr Syracusan… maybe I should have said (to paraphrase George Orwell) that “All Big East teams are equally bad, but some are more equally bad than others.”
