Home Away From Dome for Syracuse Orange Fans

harris.jpgPaul also had 4 turnovers and 4 fouls in just 22 minutes against an inferior opponent. His per-minute positive production was impressive, no doubt, but he’s got to adjust in a hurry to DI level quickness to avoid foul trouble. Word is he plays a particularly physical brand of basketball and that he’s passionate on defense. But it’s one thing to play power defense, and another to avoid whistles while doing it. That’s something to look out for.

Second, I didn’t like that we only out-rebounded them by 3, and that we gave up 17 offensive boards. Mookie and Nichols didn’t hit the boards at all. Granted in a massive blowout it’s hard to maintain those types of hustle stats, but without Arinze it’s vital that the front line starters come ready to rebound every night.

Josh Wright led the team in minutes. This could be a trend, depending on the flow of the offense when he’s out. Sometimes Jimmy prioritizes having a floor general out there, instead of having the 5 best players. I wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of the guys end up fighting for minutes at the 2, 3, and 4 spots, and that Wright and Mookie end up having the safest jobs on the team, despite being less productive.

At any rate, it’s good to beat someone by 30+ points. That’s how we used to roll against bad teams in 2003. I hope it continues.
